Oral Implantology

The Oral Implantology and Clinical Oral Implantology Master of Science courses are intended for dental practitioners wishing to develop their theoretical knowledge and practical clinical skills of treatment planning, surgical placement, restoration and maintenance of dental implants. The course has been designed to allow you to gain treatment planning experience and surgical skills within a supervised environment.

You will be taught by the most advanced dentistry education experts, and will ensure you receive a well-rounded and robust education through in-depth seminars, interactive problem-based scenarios, and clinical training to achieve highest level of patient satisfaction and proficiency to deliver implant treatment.

Cadaveric Workshops

As part of the course, you will be exposed to unique advanced training, benefiting from the experience of placing implants and performing advanced surgical procedures including bone augmentation and sinus elevation using cadaveric specimens.

Clinical Training

You will be exposed to clinical training in our state-of-the-art Dental Hospital in central Birmingham, where advanced implant treatments are undertaken by expert dental academics. Students registered with GDC will be able to place and restore implants under the supervision of our experienced team. And if you decide to take the international placement you also gain clinical experience with patients under the supervision of our international faculty.

Course Duration: 3 – 5 years
180 UK credits, 90 ECTS credits, 36 US credits

This course is delivered entirely online; you will be able to attend synchronous and recorded seminars on our advanced virtual learning platform. The practical sessions are also recorded, and the relevant materials are posted for you to complete the practicals in your practice.

Blended Learning (Part Time)
Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Oral Implantology
Course Duration: 3 – 5 years
180 UK credits, 90 ECTS credits, 36 US credits

You will attend a two intensive week-long residential schools in each stage of this course in our College in central Birmingham. Teaching will include seminars, practical interactive workshops and training on phantom heads and simulated models. Our phantom head models are inventively created to represent real case scenarios that you may encounter in a referral centre.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your clinical competencies in our Dental Hospital under the supervision of our qualified consultants.

Masters of Science (MSc) in Oral Implantology

Full Time
Master of Science (MSc) in Oral Implantology
Course Duration: 2 years
360 UK credits, 180 ECTS credits, 72 US credits

You will study on a full time basis in our state-of-the-art College and Hospital in central Birmingham. The course is delivered over 40 weeks per year, and you will be exposed to diverse techniques and approaches. You will learn from a multidisciplinary team and gain professional experience by performing advanced procedures on simulated models. Our phantom head models are inventively created to represent real case scenarios that you may encounter in a referral centre.

Flexibility to exit with a Post-Graduate Certificate (PG-Cert) or Post-Graduate Diploma (PG-Dip) in Clinical Oral Implantology.

Distance Learning and Blended Learning Applicants

  • Undergraduate Degree in Dentistry, and
  • Current GDC registration (for UK applicants only) or equivalent for international students, and
  • Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of professional indemnity cover, and
  • Health to be able to perform clinical practice, and
  • Current evidence of satisfactory DBS check

Full Time Applicants

  • Undergraduate Degree in Dentistry, and
  • Letter of good standing or equivalent from an appropriate regulatory dental body, and
  • Applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of professional indemnity cover

English Language Requirements

Our courses require a minimum English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no band score under 5.5. If you do not meet the English language requirement we will give you a conditional offer subject to you meeting the requirement before the commencement of the course.
